After driving through a rainy stretch, I was treated to a rainbow on the way into Silver City. I will take this as a good omen!

Finally on the road and getting close to my southern “basecamp” of Silver City, NM. But it’s raining – not a good omen. Oh well … I just need to go with the flow.
Atomic City? Yes, there really is such a place. Located out in the middle of the Idaho dessert, this place is all but abandoned.

I’m finally on the road! Decided to test the camera while driving and see if I could capture a slice of the drive before I left Idaho.
There is a beautiful canyon about 20 miles outside of Sun Valley. It’s past Trailcreek Summit on the north side of the road. This video is from a test ride I did before leaving for New Mexico. As you can see, there is still lots of snow up in the mountains …

Even in late June, some of the mountain passes are closed because of snow. Dollarhide Summit, just outside of Sun Valley, Idaho, opened up just days before I did this ride. Even so, only four-wheel drive vehicles with a lot of ground clearance – or a motorcycle that could navigate in the deep snow track …
Once I got the motorcycle “farkled out” with a upgrades to make it more suitable for adventure riding, it was time to test it out. This is the first of two videos I did while on that ride.
Idaho has lots of land and not a lot of people. If you’re into wide open spaces, this is a great combination! On this ride, I came across an abandoned mining complex on top of a hill outside Hailey, Idaho.
