Blue Yeti Microphone “Poof Screen” mounting hack

If you’re doing information products, podcasts, etc., having good audio is critical.  And the best way to do that is by investing in a good USB microphone.

One of the best is the Blue Microphones Yeti USB Microphone – Silver Edition. You can buy it on Amazon for something just north of a hundred bucks.

The other thing you’ll want to get for is a “pop” filter, and that’s where something crazy happens. Blue microphones makes a great filter called The Universal Pop Filter.  It’s sleek and silver – just like the microphone.  They claim it’ll work on any microphone.  Interestingly, it does not work on the The Yeti USB mic!

At least not without doing some  weird contortions and wacky jury rigging.

Well, fear not.  With a simple 90-degree bracket you can make this great pop filter look like it was custom made for the Yeti.  Check it out:

Great job! (no laughter) Will a stand drill bit work for the holes? I bet I can do this fix myself. ~Heather

Heather … you can definitely use a standard drill bit for steel. I believe there are some drills that are only made for drilling wood and that would definitely NOT work. But anything else would.
